Trace Your Travels: An Adventure Journal

Product Description

Trace Your Travels: An Adventure Journal is a writing space where memories of trips and travels will be collected.  We all have important stories that we want to remember, but we don’t have time to write them.  Memories will be written quickly, easily and succinctly. On each set of facing pages, readers will find an inspiring topic, a relevant quote, and a place to respond.  What sets Trace Your Travels apart from other journals is the author’s share on each topic.  Always brief and always in lists of three, the author’s response to each topic will appear on one side of the page, while a blank area will be found on the facing page where the reader’s own thoughts will be recorded.  Readers will see that all memories, significant or small, are important and valid - all responses are worthwhile. Some of the author’s writing will be relatable or it may simply jog a memory, but the fact that examples are given illustrates that a lengthy piece is unnecessary to document one’s life.  A list of three is manageable because it doesn’t restrict the writer to the pressure of one most important, best-ever idea and it gives a place to delve, just a bit, into travel memories. Writing feels time consuming and too often falls into the already towering to-do pile. Writing can be intimidating and having a topic provided removes the biggest impasse: where to start.  Ultimately, this journal is a gift to oneself in recognition of a life well lived. With Trace Your Travels: An Adventure Journal, writers will create an artifact of their life where they will document their travel stories, commemorate their journeys, and celebrate their adventures.

About the author

Angela K. Berent is a list-writing fanatic!  She loves books and journals that get her thinking about new writing ideas.  Whenever she visits a new bookstore (always in the plans when traveling), she goes straight to the journal section.  Berent keeps journals everywhere - in the car, in her purse, near the bed, in the dining room. In her nineteenth year of teaching, the majority in middle school, she finds that creating lists is a great way to get students generating quick ideas.  Sometimes the lists stand as is, but sometimes they are used to propel student writers more deeply into topics. She always writes with her students and shares, just as she asks of them. In school, writing teachers were among her favorites. In college, it was challenging writing professors who impacted her the most.  Now, it’s her students - they inspire her every day as she seeks opportunities to write and explore her history. Much of what Berent writes currently is non-fiction; however her twin sons’ imaginations planted the seed of a story that she is developing for them. Additionally, she is co-authoring a realistic fiction young-adult piece.  Using the basis of 3-part lists as she has used with students for years, she knows that everyone can successfully capture the moments of their lives.  There is never a shortage of writing material, only of precious writing time. Everybody has a story to write, and that is why Angela K. Berent wrote List Your Life: A Modern-Day Memoir and Trace Your Travels: An Adventure Journal.
